The construction of this property took place at the end of the XVIII century, when it belonged to the Alfaro family, according to information we were able to obtain. It is also situated on First Street on the same block as Paseo Las Bóvedas Condominium and University Club Condominium, two of the projects developed by Compañía Inmobiliaria San Felipe.
The property borders Paseo Esteban Huertas, which was also called Paseo la Ronda. This walkway has been of great importance historically, and is located in Las Bóvedas, which was also built in the XVIII century. It was originally created for lodging troops, and it was part of the walled scheme of the colonial city.
History
During the colony period, the street where the house is located was named Calle de San Pedro. According to historical data, there was only one structure on that street, and it probably disappeared in the great fire that occurred in the Barrio de San Felipe in the year of 1737.
The historical data also indicates that the structure me restaured, could have been built between the end of the XIX century and the beginning of the XX century. The inscriptions of the property demonstrate that in the year of 1915 the property belonged to Nicolás Remón's heirs, and that the street was denominated Carrera de Nariño.
Due to a partition of possessions exercised toward the year of 1920, the property was inherited by Juana Arias, widow of Remón, and María O. Remón de Chiari, and it continued under their propietorship until the 1930's. After that, the property was transferred to different heirs of the Remon and the Chiari`s families.
The property's style is "modern colonial". This style dates back to the end of the XIX century. Its beautiful wooden-type balconies, and their double height cathedral ceilings, were reconstructed to their original state. Such details, as well as the interior courtyard of the property and the lateral view of Plaza Catedral, are the most attractive features of this house.
